A Buffalo Wild Wings location in California was closed this week after a live rat reportedly fell from the restaurant’s ceiling and onto a table being used by customers.
Alisha Norman told KTRK that she was watching the U.S. Women’s Soccer game at a Westchester Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursday when she heard a noise followed by the vermin descending from the ceiling. She said her party moved away from the table upon realizing what just fell in front of them.
“It was disgusting, it was still alive. Its heart was still beating,” Norman, who was on vacation from Houston, Texas, told the news station.

“I knew the rat was going to be injured because it hit like a Mack truck,” she told KNBC.
Norman said she alerted a manager, who used two plates to pick up the rat and place it in a bag. She claimed the manager blamed the rat’s presence on construction and compensated her lunch, according to the news station.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health told the Los Angeles Times that the restaurant will undergo an inspection before it reopens.
Buffalo Wild Wings confirmed Thursday’s incident and also referred to ongoing construction in a statement to KNBC. It reads:
“The isolated incident at the Westchester-area Buffalo Wild Wings in Los Angeles yesterday was unfortunate. The center where the restaurant is located is undergoing significant construction and we are confident it was directly related. We hold Buffalo Wild Wings to the highest operating standards and promptly closed the restaurant for proper remediation, cleaning and sanitization. We look forward to reopening soon to once again serve our guests in the Westchester area.”
