Disgraced R&B star R. Kelly was in court again on Wednesday as he faces the latest in a string of sexual assault charges.
As he arrived at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building in Chicago, Illinois, he reportedly remained clad in sunglasses and wore an apparently worried expression on his 52-year-old face. The U.K. Daily Mail published video of his humbled entrance.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, a former employee of the singer said Kelly routinely filmed his own sexual encounters with juvenile girls. Those allegations came months after he was charged with 10 criminal counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four victims — including three minors.
While he was greeted by a small group of apparent fans wishing him well, holding signs, and hoping for a glimpse of the beleaguered star, Kelly seemed to have the weight of his legal troubles on his shoulders as he headed into the courtroom.
Once inside, prosecutors in the case reportedly produced a digital recording of Kelly’s alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl at some point in the 1990s. The singer’s attorneys want to know how the video was obtained.
He is expected to appear in court again in August and a judge said a sex assault trial could begin next year.
