Authorities in Texas say a woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing injuries that resulted in her own 4-year-old son’s death last month.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Kaysen Neyland’s unresponsive body was recovered by relatives from inside a parked SUV in front of his family’s Providence Village home. He died days later at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
Initial reports indicated that no immediate criminal charges were filed.
According to KTVT, however, the victim’s mother, Lisa Neyland is accused of leaving him inside the hot vehicle. She was arrested in Aubrey and is expected to face a felony criminal charge of injury to a child.
As reported by KXAS, Aubrey Police Chief called it a “tragic situation,” noting that it “Happens too often in Texas and across the country with 16 children dying from vehicular heat stroke already this year.”
Lisa Neyland reportedly turned herself in and was booked into the Denton County Jail, where she remained without bail as of the latest reports available. She is set to be arraigned in court at a later time.
