A New York woman is facing criminal charges following allegations that she secretly used her boyfriend’s credit card to leave a $5,000 tip on a $55 bill at a Florida restaurant.
Per WTSP, Clearwater police now believe a generous tip Serina Wolfe, 24, left to a waitress at Clear Sky Cafe who was grieving the loss of her service dog was part of a revenge plot. Wolfe allegedly used her boyfriend’s credit card shortly after he refused to buy her a plane ticket back home to Buffalo, New York.
Wolfe later denied the June 27 transaction and reported it as fraud but the restaurant had already paid out the waitress by the time before learning that Wolfe had declined the purchase, according to an affidavit.
According to The Smoking Gun, the boyfriend told police that Wolfe had used his credit card after he lifted a hold he placed on it. The boyfriend reportedly confronted Wolfe but she denied making the charge.
While it is unclear how Wolfe got possession of her boyfriend’s credit card, she allegedly admitted to making the purchase and gave the card to a police officer.
The Smoking Gun reported that Wolfe was arrested in May 2017 for stealing a bargoer’s wallet. In that instance, she was reportedly apprehended and found to have $500 in her underwear.
