Authorities in Oregon say a man has been arrested on suspicion of killing 76-year-old Dennis Day last year.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, the former child star’s body was found inside his home earlier this year.
Day, known for being among the first Mouseketeers on the “Mickey Mouse Club,” had been missing for months at the time his remains were discovered.
A subsequent investigation reportedly resulted in police identifying 36-year-old career criminal Daniel Burda as their suspect. He was arrested last week in connection with Day’s homicide and was locked up on a charge relation to violating his probation from an earlier robbery prosecution.
The suspect worked for Burda as a handyman, according to a friend who said he introduced them.
“I just find that I’m saddened for Dennis,” Kirk Pederson said. “I’m saddened for [Day’s husband] Ernie [Caswell]. I’m also sad for Dan.
Caswell was admitted to an area hospital after falling at the home last summer and Day was reported missing a couple of weeks later, as reported by the Oregonian.
In connection with the death, Burda is expected to face criminal counts including manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, criminally negligent homicide, criminal mistreatment, and identity theft.
