A Georgia mother is facing murder charges after she allegedly dropped her 3-month-old son during an altercation with another woman Friday, resulting in the infant’s death the following day.
WTXL reported that surveillance cameras at Thomas Beauty Supply in Moultrie reportedly filmed Karen Harrison, 26, holding her son as she approached a woman in a parking lot. The other woman was caught on camera allegedly hitting Harrison with a shopping bag before Harrison dropped her swaddled baby and fought the woman.
Bystanders attempted to break up the fight and someone frantically ran to retrieve the baby from the pavement when the infant fell.
The boy was taken to the hospital the following day for head trauma but ultimately died from his injuries, according to WALB.

Harrison and family friend Carneata Clark, 26, allegedly told Moultrie police officers that the baby was injured when he slipped out of Clark’s arms.
Harrison was charged with felony murder, first-degree cruelty to children, second-degree cruelty to children, simple battery, and affray. Meanwhile, Clark was charged with false statements and writings and obstruction of an officer.
Police told the news outlet that the other woman hasn’t been criminally charged. They said more arrests are possibly forthcoming. An autopsy is pending.
