Parole officer sexually assaults multiple women whose cases he oversaw, cops say

Authorities in Ohio say a man has been placed on leave from his job as a parole officer after his arrest on suspicion of multiple sex crimes against those he was supposed to be monitoring.

According to the New York Post, 50-year-old Keith Cooper is accused of assaulting three female parolees between 2016 and 2017.

Investigators became involved in the case after one woman’s complaint that he attacked her about two years ago in Sreetsboro. Police believe he is also responsible for two similar crimes in Portage County and Newton Falls.

Records show the Trent resident had been employed as a parole officer for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in both Portage and Trumbull counties. Since his arrest, he has reportedly been placed on administrative leave.

Cooper was arrested on Monday and is expected to face criminal charges including rape, gross sexual imposition and sexual battery.

He posted bail and was released the same day, along with a court order to keep his distance from the alleged victims.

Court records indicate Cooper is set to appear in court again next month.

Detectives say the case remains ongoing and local and are encouraging anyone with information about Cooper or the allegations against him to contact police.
