Authorities in New York arrested a man who allegedly broke into a home early Sunday and tried to rape a 64-year-old woman. He’s also accused of attacking the woman’s 94-year-old mother.
Solomon Hudgins, 27, allegedly gained entry to the home by tearing through a bathroom window screen. Queens District Attorney John Ryan said a pantless Hudgins groped the 64-year-old woman’s breast and genitals before trying to pull her pants down, according to WPIX.
Ryan accused Hudgins of striking the woman’s 94-year-old mother with a phone, which he took from her as she tried to call the police. Citing authorities, WNBC reported that Hudgins fled the home but was taken into custody nearby.
The 94-year-old woman reportedly sustained swelling and bruising in Sunday’s alleged attack.
“The victim’s 94-year-old mother tried to call the police, only to have the defendant grab the phone from her and strike her with it. If the charges are proven, this defendant deserves nothing less than a significant term of incarceration,” Ryan said, according to QNS.
Hudgins is facing various charges, including burglary, attempted rape, criminal mischief, and assault. He’s due in court on August 9.
