According to BProud.com, the shooting appears to have been the result of an altercation. A spokesperson for Baton Rouge General told the news outlet that “a patient injured in the incident at Walmart is being treated at Baton Rouge General and is currently in fair condition.” Police have said that it is not an active shooter scene, though according to local media on the scene, there remains a heavy police presence at the location.

Police reportedly responded to an active shooter call at a Baton Rouge Walmart on Tuesday.
WBRZ reports that a call was made at about noon at the Walmart store on Burbank Drive at Bluebonnet. Police sources told WABF-9 that it is not an active shooter situation at this time, but described it as an “active scene.”
According to WBRZ, at least one person was taken to the hospital before paramedics arrived. There is no further information about any additional injuries or a possible shooter at this time.
The report comes just three days after a gunman opened fire at an El Paso Walmart on Saturday, killing 21 people and injuring dozens more.
