Jeffrey Epstein was reportedly permitted to buy women’s underwear while he was serving time for sex offenses.
The Miami Herald obtained records of purchases Epstein made at the Palm Beach County Jail’s shop while he was serving time there in 2008 after pleading guilty to soliciting prostitution involving a minor. According to the records, Epstein spent $2,000 at the stockade, including two pairs of small, size women’s underwear; as the shop also stocked items for female inmates. It is unclear from the report what Epstein did with the underwear.
According to the report, Epstein also bought 800 cups of coffee at the jail. As CrimeOnline previously reported, for much of his 18-month sentence, Epstein was permitted to leave the jail for up to 12 hours a day on a work-release program, where he was taken by a private car to an office building. As the New York Post notes, a lawyer for some of Epstein’s accusers has claimed that Epstein had sex with young women while he was on work-release.
He was having office visitors . . . female visitors . . . some of whom were flown to him from New York, and continuing to engage in . . . [sexual] conduct literally while he was in ‘jail,” the lawyer, Brad Edwards, told the New York Post.
Epstein, 66, died on August 10 in a Manhattan federal jail as he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The U.S. Attorney General William Barr has launched an investigation into the circumstances of Epstein’s jailhouse death. On Friday, the NYC chief medical examiner released the autopsy conclusions, stating that Epstein died of suicide by hanging.
