After receiving complaints of people taking part in “lewd and sexual activity” in a Connecticut wooded area, Fairfield authorities arrested six people, all over the age of 60.
ABC7 reports that police responded to complaints about inappropriate behavior at the Grace Richardson conservation area in Fairfield. On August 9, officers from the Fairfield Police Department’s Quality of Life Unit and the Special Services Unit began investigating the incident and started surveilling the area.
On August 16, authorities arrested six people said to be involved in sexual activity in the area. Upon further investigation, authorities learned that the area, which encompasses 87 acres of land, had been advertised on a “City Hookup Guide” as a place to meet up, according to CT Post.
The suspects have been identified as the following:
-Daniel Dobbins, 67
-Otto Williams, 62
-Charles Ardito, 75
-John Linartz, 62
-Richard Butler, 82
-Joyce Butler, 85
According to The Smoking Gun, 85-year-old Joyce Butler has denied participating in anything illegal. She reportedly claimed she was simply there to “get a little air” with her husband.
“We were just sitting in the car to get a little air and that was it,” Joyce Butler reportedly said. “We’ve gone there for years. We used to take the children to go find golf balls years ago when they were little.”
Butler’s husband, Richard, reportedly backed up his wife’s story and explained that what he’s been accused of would have been impossible, according to the outlet.
“I haven’t had sex in maybe 10 years. I got no blood flow. I got three doctors that would back me up……What the f*** can I do in the fu***** front seat of a car?”
Capt. Robert Kalamaras added that officers they will continue to monitor the area in order to keep things “appropriate and safe.”
Dobbins was previously issued a citation in 2017 by New Canaan police for walking naked around Waveny Park, according to CT Post.
All six suspects have been released from police custody, with the promise that they’ll show up for court.
