A Louisiana police officer was killed and another was wounded on a highway Friday afternoon following a vehicle chase that ended in gunfire, authorities said.
The incident reportedly involved two Mandeville officers who were shot on U.S. 190 and La. 22. Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker said two suspects have been taken into custody and that the second officer is expected to survive, according to Nola.com.
In addition to the two suspects, the two officers involved in Friday’s shooting haven’t been publicly identified. WDSU reported that Sticker also indicated that the weapon used in the incident has been recovered.

The police chief stated that authorities at this time don’t believe there are additional suspects. Louisiana State Police have taken control of the investigation.
