A 3-year-old girl drowned and another is in critical condition at a Tampa hospital after a pool party went awry, WTSP reported.
Ten children were being supervised by three adults at the Saturday afternoon party, ABC Action News reported. The two 3-year-olds, who could not swim, were wearing flotation devices in the pool but took them off. By the time the adults noticed, the girls were underwater.
The adults pulled the girls out of the water and began CPR and were joined by apartment resident Addison Vicedo, a former lifeguard, who heard the screams and came down to the pool.
“I noticed that everyone was there panicking, and the mother was in tears, so I just told myself not to panic because I could do something,” Vicedo said.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident but told WTSP they don’t expect any charges to be filed.
