A Queens man is accused of stabbing his new wife to death and then hanging himself, the second domestic murder-suicide in New York City this week, WABC-TV reports.
Donne Dojoy, 27, was found dead at her Ozone Park home on Friday night, according to police.
Dojoy’s husband, 33-year-old Dineshwar Budhidat, had messaged the woman’s sister telling her that his wife had died in the house. He said she could enter the home using a spare key underneath a flower pot, sources told the New York Post.
The sister scrambled to the residence and used the key to get inside, where she found Dojoy’s body around 7:30 p.m. Authorities later searched for Budhidat by helicopter and found his body hanging from a tree in a forested area.
In August, police had arrested Budhidat for allegedly strangling Dojoy.
A woman at the couple’s home on Friday told a Post reporter that she had helped the wife move out of the residence because she was afraid for her safety.
“I moved her out,” the woman told the newspaper. “I can’t believe this happened. I moved her out because she left him — they were fighting.”
“I told her don’t go back there.”
The deaths follow an apparently unrelated murder-suicide earlier in the week, in which a 46-year-old man used a hunting knife to decapitate his 43-year-old wife, slashed the throat of their 5-year-old daughter and then hanged himself in the girl’s bedroom.
The bodies of the family were found Wednesday night in their Harlem brownstone.
