Police in the City of South Fulton, Georgia — just outside Atlanta — are looking for a 30-year-old lawyer who hasn’t been seen since he was out with friends early Saturday morning.
Demetrice Allen, an employment lawyer from Orlando, Florida, was in Atlanta to interview for a job with Delta Airlines, his friends told 11 Alive News.
Allen was with his law school roommate, Chris Whitmore, and his girlfriend in southeast Atlanta Friday night and left the bar while they were on the dance floor, texting Whitmore that he was headed to The Cookout restaurant not far away. He’s not been seen since.
“I tried to follow up the next day to figure out how to split the check, but the phone went straight to voicemail,” Whitmore told 11 Alive.
Allen’s godfather, James Handley Sr, where he was staying while in Atlanta, said it was unusual for him not to come home.
“When he does go out, he says he’ll back. He literally comes in right at 2 [in the morning],” Handley said. “We just want him home.”
James Handley Jr told 11 Alive he was worried.
“He went to go out Friday night with some friends and said, ‘I’ll see you later,’ and he never came back and there was never a later,” he said.
Whitmore said the group started the evening at TEN ATL Lounge in southeast Atlanta and later moved to the Graveyard Tavern a few blocks away. Allen left at about 2 a.m., he said. The Cookout, where Allen texted he was heading, is also nearby.
Allen was last seen wearing a black jacket, tan shirt, black jeans, and black Jordan sneakers, police said, and he drives a grey BMW 328i with Ohio tag number HMT1084.
Police asked anyone with any information to contact 911 or Det. J. Rittberg with the City of South Fulton Police at 470-809-7357.
