The body of a 19-year-old woman missing since December 20 was found Monday in rural Greene County, Missouri.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department identified the woman as Mackenna Milhon and said the Springfield Police Department had been investigating since she was reported missing.
Now, Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott said, both agencies were investigating Milhon’s death as a homicide.
“This is a horrible tragedy, especially during the Christmas season, our detectives are working closely with SPD to determine the events that lead to Mackenna’s death, our prayers are with the family,” Arnott said.
The Springfield Police department said Milhon was last seen at a convenience store at 10 p.m. on December 20. She was seen leaving the store, a few miles from where her body was found, in a black vehicle. She contacted family the following day saying she was the victim of a possible assault.
Deputies said Milhon’s body was found outside a home at the corner of State Highway H and Farm Road 88, where crime scene tape could be seen. According to KY3, detectives said they don’t believe Milhon had any connection with people at the home.
