Hit-and-run driver kills dog grooming business owner and her beloved poodle

Florida police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 63-year-old woman and her dog in Fort Myers, NBC 2 reported.

Kate Johnson and Diva, a standard poodle, were crossing McGregor Boulevard just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday when they were hit. Police believe the vehicle that hit them was a light-colored Nissan.

Johnson owned a dog-grooming business, Shaggy to Chic, in Fort Myers, her boyfriend, Phil “Phish” Ross, said.

“You’ve got to come forward they are going to find you sooner or later,” Ross said. “There have been many lives ruined over this one incident.”

Ross told WINK News he was lost without Johnson, whom he’d been with for about 10 years.

“She’s an awesome person,” Johnson’s brother, Fred Crislip, said. “We got along great. I loved her dearly, and it’s going to leave a big hole in my heart.”

Johnson also leaves behind three adult sons.
