Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of missing and presumed dead Connecticut mother, Jennifer Dulos, apparently connected a hose to a vehicle at his residence on Tuesday, an attempt to kill himself.
According to Connecticut authorities, Dulos connected a black hose to the exhaust pipe of a black Chevrolet Suburban found parked inside a garage at his home in Farmington.
Authorities arrived at the residence to perform a welfare check after no one had heard from Dulos, who was scheduled for an emergency bond hearing at noon on Tuesday. They found Dulos inside the Suburban, in clear medical distress.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Dulos’ lawyer, Rich Rochlin, said that Dulos passed away. Dulos’ other attorney, Norm Pattis, however, indicated that Dulos had a faint pulse while on his way to the hospital.
“This is a shocking and truly sad day,” Pattis said. “My heart goes out to his children and his family. It’s just a horrible day.”
Farmington police confirmed on Tuesday afternoon what Dulos was alive but in critical condition. He was initially taken to UConn Health Center.
Later on Tuesday, Dulos was airlifted and taken to the Jacobi Medical Center in New York, where he remains in a hyperbaric chamber. He’s currently being guarded by NYC officers, according to ABC 3.
Dulos was scheduled for a January 28 hearing at the Stamford Superior Court, in connection with his $6 million bond, which came with strict home confinement requirements. During his first and second arrest, Dulos was confined to house arrest but he was still able to jog around his expansive Farmington home.
Dulos’ latest house confinement restrictions required him to stay inside his home while awaiting trial, which means he cannot leave his property, even if just a few feet outside of it.
Last week, after Dulos reportedly stole items placed outside of his home in memory of Jennifer Dulos, Superior Court Judge Gary White reprimanded him. White reportedly said if Dulos violated his conditions again, his bond would be doubled.
Dulos was scheduled for the hearing in connection with his bond violation. There was reportedly a chance that his bond would be revoked.
The Hartford Courant reports that Dulos waited until his new, unnamed girlfriend left the residence to go grocery shopping before he attempted suicide. Dulos’ former girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, who no longer lives with him, is facing conspiracy to commit murder and evidence tampering charges in connection with Jennifer’s presumed death and disappearance.
Authorities later interviewed Dulos’ new girlfriend, but no information was disclosed about her, according to the Courant.
Dulos is accused of kidnapping and murdering Jennifer Dulos, who disappeared on May 24 after dropping their five children off at school.
Investigators accused Dulos of “lying in wait” for Jennifer to come home the morning she vanished. Security footage captured her walking into her New Canaan home at around 8:30 a.m. Authorities noted that Jennifer’s SUV left her residence at some point on May 24, but they think Fotis Dulos was behind the wheel.
The pair were in the process of a tumultuous divorce and a bitter battle for custody of their children when Jennifer disappeared. The children are now living in New York with Jennifer’s mother. Gloria Farber.
