Police in South Carolina have expanded the search for a little girl who vanished from her own front yard on Monday afternoon.
As WPDE reports, 6-year-old Faye Marie Swetlik was last in the Churchill Heights neighborhood of Cayce, South Carolina, on Monday afternoon at about 3:45 p.m. Faye had gotten off the school bus and was seen playing in the front yard of her home before she was reported missing at about 5 p.m.
Police searched the area overnight, and are expected to be going door-to-door and stopping vehicles on Tuesday so ask people questions and share information about the missing girl.
“We are here for one thing, making sure that Faye is safe,” officials said at a press conference on Tuesday, according to the report. “We want to find out where this girl is.”
Faye is in the first grade at Springdale Elementary School. According to the report, she was last seen wearing black shirt with neon colors, boots with polka dots and a floral skirt.
Anyone who believes they have seen the girl is urged to contact the Cayce Department of Public Safety at 803-794-0456.
