The Cayce Department of Public Safety announced in a Thursday press conference that Faye Swetlik has been found dead. An unidentified male was also found dead in the search for the missing 6-year-old girl.
The Cayce DPS official said that the case is now a homicide investigation. Police have not made any arrests, and authorities have said there is no threat to the public. The law enforcement official did not provide any further details at the news conference.
The 6-year-old girl has been missing since Monday afternoon, when she was last seen disembarking a school bus and then in the front yard of her home in the Churchill Heights area of Cayce.
Hundreds of officers from multiple agencies joined the massive search for Faye, and law enforcement officials have reportedly fielded continuous tips that tied up the phone lines at the Cayce DPS.
