A woman who saw Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell at an airport in Maui this weekend told a reporter that the couple didn’t speak to each other during a ride on a shuttle van.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Vallow and Daybell made a brief visit to Maui on Sunday from Kauai, where they have been staying since at least January as questions mount about the whereabouts of Vallow’s two children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.
JJ and Tylee have not been seen since September; Vallow never reported them missing and she and Daybell have not been cooperative with the investigation into their disappearance.
In a Facebook post, East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton shared part of an email he received from a woman who encountered Daybell and Vallow in Hawaii. The source, who requested anonymity, said in the email that Vallow and Daybell did not appear to be in good spirits.
“There was obvious tension between Chad and Lori, who didn’t speak to each other either in line for the shuttle or on the way to the car rental,” the woman wrote.
The same woman told Eaton that she made eye contact with Vallow and mouthed the words, “Where are your children?” In response, Vallow raised her eyebrows and shrugged, the woman claimed.
Vallow was given a court-ordered deadline of January 30 to present her children to authorities in Idaho, where the family had been living at the time the children were last seen. She did not comply with the order, and it is unclear if she is expected to face any charges.
