“Dooomsday cult” mom Lori Vallow’s husband has returned to Idaho while his wife remains in a Hawaii jail, awaiting extradition to face charges related to the disappearance of her two children.
Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17, haven’t been seen since last September, and Vallow and husband Chad Daybell have been uncooperative with authorities, leading to Vallow’s arrest on February 20, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
East Idaho News reported Daybell’s return to Rexburg, saying witnesses saw him return a rental car and drive away with an unknown man in another car.
Fox13 spoke with a woman in Kauai who said she ran into Daybell on Thursday at a thrift store there. “I got up the nerve to ask … ‘Wouldn’t it be easy for Lori to get out of jail if she could just say where the kids are?'” Sharon Olson told the station. “He answered and said, ‘Well, it’s not that easy. It’s more complicated than that.'”
East Idaho News spoke with the same woman, who told them largely the same story.

A judge last week refused to lower Vallow’s $5 million bail, and she waived her right to an extradition hearing. Officials have offered little information about her return to Idaho, but it is expected sometime this week.
Vallow and Daybell fled their Idaho home shortly after police performed a wellness check in late November and found the two children to be missing. The couple was discovered in Hawaii in January. Idaho authorities gave her a deadline to produce the children, and she was arrested after she failed to meet that deadline.
Vallow and Daybell married last fall, shortly after Daybell’s then-wife died under mysterious circumstances. Vallow’s husband was shot to death in July by her brother, who claimed self-defense. The brother died under mysterious circumstances in December. All of those deaths are now under review by various law enforcement agencies.
