The FBI has asked police in Phoenix for information about the death of Lori Vallow’s former husband Joseph Ryan.
Vallow’s children, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, have not been seen since September. Vallow has been married multiple times, and in 2004 divorced Tylee’s father Joseph Ryan. In 2018, Ryan reportedly died of a heart attack.
AZCentral.com reports that the FBI inquired about Ryan’s death with Phoenix police last month. It is unclear if the investigation is ongoing, and police sources said the federal agency has not given them any action items at this time.
According to court documents obtained by AZCentral.com, Vallow and Ryan fought over custody of Tylee, and Ryan accused Vallow of violating their custody agreement by refusing to let him see his daughter.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Vallow’s brother Alex Cox was convicted of threatening Ryan with a stun gun. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not known. In July, Cox admitted to fatally shooting Vallow’s then-husband Charles Vallow, claiming self-defense. Cox died in December of still-unknown causes, and authorities have not yet released details about his death.
Cox was also with Vallow, JJ, and Tylee during a visit to Yellowstone National Park on September 8. Tylee Ryan has not been seen since then, and authorities have asked anyone who visited the park on that date to provide photos and video captured that day.
