Gannon Stauch: Newly-released court docs detail charges against stepmother accused of killing Colorado boy

A criminal complaint filed against the stepmother of missing but presumed dead Colorado boy, Gannon Stauch, sheds some insight on the charges against her.

According to court documents, Letecia “Tecia” Stauch is facing numerous felony charges, including murder, child abuse, tampering with evidence, and tampering with a deceased body. Gannon, 11, disappeared from the Colorado Springs area on January 27 while in his stepmother’s care.

Letecia Stauch previously told CrimeOnline that she last saw Gannon at their home the Lorson Ranch neighborhood on the afternoon of January 27, leaving for a friend’s house. Stauch said Gannon never returned home.

During a court hearing on March 11, prosecutor Michael Allen said that authorities have at least 107 search warrants against Stauch.

For the first-degree murder charges, prosecutors allege that Stauch “unlawfully, feloniously, and knowingly caused the death of Gannon Stauch, a child who had not yet attained twelve years of age, and the defendant was in a position of trust with respect to the victim.”

For the child abuse charge, Stauch is accused of “unlawfully, feloniously, knowingly, or recklessly caused an injury to, or permitted to be unreasonably placed in a situation that posed a threat of injury to, the life or health of a child, namely: Gannon Stauch, and engaged in a continued pattern of conduct that resulted in cruel punishment, or mistreatment, that resulted in the death of the child.”

Stauch is also accused of mutilating, concealing or altering “a human body, part of a human body, or human remains with the intent to impair” the appearance, as well as concealing and/or altering physical evidence.

Stauch told CrimeOnline she never had her phone with her on January 27. She admitted to leaving her phone at home but claimed her Apple watch would have picked up her locations, as she took Gannon to a bicycle shop at around an hour away from home, as well as a Play It Again Sports shop at an unknown location. She denied any wrongdoing and said she would never hurt Gannon.

Authorities continue to search for the boy but said he is likely deceased. They believe foul play led to his death.

Stauch remains behind bars without bail.
