A New York daycare provider allegedly admitted to police that she killed a 23-month-old boy last year by swinging him into a coffee table by his legs.
Jessica Sims, 24, was charged Thursday with first-degree manslaughter in the death of Lennox Santiago in July 2019. Two days before Santiago’s death from severe brain trauma, Sims called 911 claiming the toddler fell out of a chair and struck his head, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office News said in a press release.
Syracuse.com reported that Sims changed her story multiple times before confessing to inflicting Santiago’s fatal injuries at her Mattydale apartment. Authorities haven’t revealed why the daycare provider harmed the toddler.
Sims remains jailed on $25,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
