A New York city police officer has died after contracting the novel coronarvirus, which has infected more than 500 members of the NYPD.
The New York Post reports that the 48-year-old detective worked in the 32nd precinct in Harlem. He reportedly died on Saturday morning at North Central Bronx Hospital.
The detective’s identity has not yet been released.
He is the third member of the NYPD to die in three days due to coronavirus, and the first uniformed officer.
