The Jackson Progress-Argus reports that several children were around the area playing when the shooting occurred, according to witnesses at the scene.

Investigators allege Matthews shot the victim, then possibly took 21-year-old Autumn Keara Finlay against her will. Finlay is considered “in extreme danger.”

“Cody HAS been violent towards my sister in the past so I do not believe her to be safe right now and do believe she is being held against her will,” Finlay’s sister, Chrichelle Wood, posted on Facebook. “Autumn has 2 little boys to come home to and would not just run off with Cody.”
