Five teens beat boy with pipes, hammers, machete & bats: Police

Five California teens are behind bars for attempted murder after an alleged brutal beating that left a 14-year-old fighting for his life.

According to a news release by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on March 5 in Goleta, off of the 5700 block of Hollister Avenue. By the time deputies arrived at the scene, the suspects had fled, leaving the victim badly beaten with head lacerations.

KTLA 5 reports that on the same evening at around 9:40 p.m., officers arrived at the scene of another fight, where several males told police that five teens tried to attack them with weapons. Authorities said the same weapons were used in both fights, but the suspects had again fled before officers arrived.

No victims were injured during the second fight but investigators determined that the same group of teens had been involved in both incidents.

After obtaining search warrants, three of the five suspects were arrested on March 31. On Tuesday, authorities arrested two additional teens.

Due to their ages, the identities of the suspects and victims have not been revealed. The 14-year-old, who was rushed to the hospital, is expected to survive.
