Police in New York said a woman’s partially-nude body was discovered in a garbage can on Tuesday.
Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that the woman was dumped head-first into a garbage can in a Bronx alleyway. Investigators reportedly reviewed surveillance footage showing an unidentified man pushing the woman to the alley in a shopping cart. It is not immediately known whether the woman was already dead when the video was taken.
Authorities have not shared the victim’s identity, though the sources described her as a 38-year-old woman.
Cops told the New York Daily News that a building super made the grisly discovery. The woman was reportedly wearing a shirt, but no underwear or pants.
“I was doing the recycling. When I lifted up the lid, that’s when I saw her body,” the super, Nelson Castillo, revealed to the Daily News. “From what I saw of her, she was naked. I was terrified. I called the police.”
Sources told the Post there were no obvious signs of trauma. A medical examiner will determine her cause and manner of death.
