Police in Milwaukee are investigating an apparent mass killing after discovering five bodies in a home on Monday.
As the Associated Press reports, an unidentified man called 911 at about 10:30 Monday morning and said his family members were dead. First responders discovered five people fatally shot in a home on the city’s north side, with ages ranging from 14 to 41. According to WLUK, four of the deceased victims were age 19 or younger. There was also an infant or toddler in the home, who was not injured.
The 911 caller has reportedly been taken into custody. Authorities have not yet released his identity, but the Journal-Sentinel reports that he is a 43-year-old man with a criminal history, and that sources had identified him as Christopher P. Stokes. He was reportedly known to the victims, but the precise relationship is not yet clear.
According to the report, Stokes has numerous domestic violence convictions and has been incarcerated. As of Monday, he was on post-release supervision following his 2015 release from prison.
