A California man believed to have murdered his grandmother was allegedly caught eating her remains.
Richmond police arrived at a home Monday amid reports of a bleeding woman inside the residence with a family member standing near her. Officers who responded to the scene caught Dwayne Wallick, 37, in the act of eating Ruby Wallick, 90, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Richmond homicide Seargent Aaron Pomeroy claimed Dwayne Wallick was straddling his grandmother and “digging into her flesh.”
Pomeroy said officers used a stun gun on Dwayne Wallick after he ignored their commands to get off his grandmother, but the jolt, which lasts approximately five seconds, had little effect on him. The Chronicle reported that it took four officers to subdue the suspect and place him in handcuffs.
Pomeroy went on to say that Monday’s incident was the worst he’s seen in his 26-year career.
Ruby Wallick’s official cause of death is pending an autopsy. Her grandson was hospitalized and will be booked into jail on suspicion of murder charges following his release.
It’s not immediately known whether Dwayne Wallick has a history of mental health issues.
