DEVELOPING: Two children taken into protective custody after ‘suspicious death’ of young child in same home

A young child is dead and two other children were taken from a Minneapolis home due to the suspicious nature of the death.

Citing law enforcement sources, KMSP reports that police responded to a call of “unknown trouble” at a residence in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood early Thursday morning. Responding officers reportedly tried to revive a child under the age of 5, and the child was transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

It is not clear at this time what led to the child’s death, but WCCO reports that authorities believe it is suspicious. As a result, two other children in the home were taken into protective custody.

An unknown number of adults were also at the home, and no arrests have been made at this time.
