The three family members found dead in a residential pool on Monday afternoon may have been electrocuted, neighbors suspect.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, an 8-year-old girl, her 32-year-old mother, and a 62-year-old uncle were pronounced dead at an East Brunswick, New Jersey, home on Monday after a neighbor called to report hearing a woman screaming. Emergency responders attempted to revive the family members, but were unsuccessful.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the tragic deaths, while neighbors who spoke to a local news station commented on a possible clue to what caused the sudden deaths: An electrician’s van at the scene of the investigation.
CBS New York interviewed neighbors of the deceased, and some commented that it seemed unusual for three people to drown together in an above-ground pool, one that police said at a news conference on Monday was only four feet deep.
One neighbor told the news station that he spotted an electrician’s truck at the home following the sudden deaths.
The fact that they had an electrician’s truck show up shortly thereafter. It wouldn’t make sense that three people just drowned right away like that. With and adult there, too,” Phil Peterson told CBS New York.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, police said on Monday that an adult was inside the home at the time of the incident. A CBS New York video taken at the scene showed a distraught man in the front yard of the home, being comforted by a group of people surrounding him.
As the New York Post reports, a neighbor told another local station that the family had just had the pool serviced for the summer and were excited to use it.
Authorities have not commented on a possible cause of death or released the names of the victims. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
