Leila Cavett: Missing mom’s truck found in Hollywood after tot son found wandering alone. Dad claims son, pushes for custody [Report]

A Georgia mom remains missing but police are one step closer to possibly finding her after locating her truck in Hollywood, Florida.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, police are looking for missing mom, Leila Cavett, 21. Cavett’s toddler son, identified as Kamdyn Cavett Arnold, was found outside and alone at an apartment complex off of 1860 block of SW 68th Avenue in Miramar on Sunday morning.

Witness Ebony Williams said she was going to the store when she spotted the little boy crying and wearing only a diaper and a T-shirt.

“I heard the baby crying, so I walked over, and I realized he was by himself,” Williams said. “I asked him, ‘Where’s your mommy?’ And he kind of just like pointed everywhere.”

Williams contacted the police after knocking on doors and asking people if they knew where to find the boy’s mother or caregiver. Police later located the child’s family members in Alabama. He’s now in foster care, but Cavett remains missing.

On Wednesday evening, the Hollywood police announced that Cavett’s white truck had been found in its jurisdiction. Cavett was not in the truck but there may have been a possible sighting of her near Hollywood Boulevard and US Route 441. Authorities have not confirmed when she was possibly seen.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Daniel Lee West, a man who says he is the biological father of Kamdyn, told the Miami Herald that he wants to get his son from foster care, but was told he had to first establish paternity.

“CPS [the Florida Department of Children and Families] is supposed to tell me what to do. I am coming there as soon as they do,” West told the outlet.

He may possibly have to take a DNA test, something West is apparently willing to do to get his son back.

West said he is not in a relationship with Cavett but has been in Kamdyn’s life and sends them money twice a month.

“We were never together; it was just a hookup. Our relationship was about Kamdyn only.”

Cavett stands 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs around 120 pounds. She has a tattoo on her inner right arm that reads, “Kamdyn,” in cursive and a small tattoo of a “Jesus fish” on her right wrist.

Anyone with information should contact the Hollywood Police Department in Florida or call 911.
