As KOTV-DT reports, an unidentified 5-year-old girl was found dead, apparently with her body burned, in Gypsy on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities have not yet publicly identified the girl or commented on a cause of death.
According to the report, police took the girl’s father Anthony Mason into custody shortly after the girl was discovered dead in an unknown location. Schools and a childcare program were put on temporary lockdown while police searched for the suspect.
During a television news segment, the station reported that Mason was found at a residential property. The resident of the home told the news station she does not know him, and the report indicates that Mason may have been attempting to hide there.
