Authorities in California are investigating after seven people were reportedly found shot to death at a residence that housed an illegal marijuana grow operation.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that shortly after midnight Monday, officers responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon at a Moreno Valley residence. There, they reportedly discovered six people dead with gunshot wounds; a woman who was also shot was pronounced dead at a hospital.
An investigation reportedly revealed that the home where the deadly shooting transpired was the site of an illicit marijuana grow operation. Police said several hundred marijuana plants and more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana were reportedly discovered at the residence.
Authorities have not yet named the seven shooting victims. While police said their investigation is ongoing, they mentioned that the incident appears to be isolated and there is no threat to the public.
