Authorities in Pennsylvania will hold a news conference Monday to discuss the charges against a couple whose son and stepson was found dead this spring in a horrific scene.
As WHTM reports, Annville Township Police Department responded to the Lebanon home in May following reports of a deceased child. Officers found the body of a 12-year-old boy in a bedroom. The boy was reportedly naked, and his body and the bed were covered in fecal matter.
Responding officers also noted “claw marks” on the bedsheets, according to WHTM.
The officers observed dungeon-like conditions in the bedroom where the boy was found dead. The windows were completely covered, there were no lights in the room, and there were three metal hooks on the door that investigators reportedly believe the parents installed to keep the child locked inside.
The entire floor where the boy was kept in a bedroom also smelled of feces, WHTM reports.
Scott Schollenberger Jr., the boy’s father, and Kimberly Maurer, the child’s stepmother, have been charged with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of a child, and conspiracy. They are both behind held without bail.
Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf announced a press conference at 10 a.m. Monday to share an update on the charges against the couple.
CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
