An investigation is underway after authorities found a mother of six children dead in her own backyard in Michigan.
ABC 7 reports that the incident happened a little before 1 a.m. on Sunday, at a Woodland home close to Kelly Road and Moross. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Katie Elliott, was found deceased in her yard with wounds across her chest and back.
According to family members, Elliott was the mother of six children, ranging in ages from 10 to 19.
A 42-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, reportedly contacted police shortly after the killing and admitted he was responsible.
Neighbors who lived by the couple told Fox 2 that they never heard arguing or fighting from the home.
“Always laughing and joking, like normal people, like family,” neighbor Linda Barnes said.
