A cadaver dog appears to alert to scents while in a boat near a lake house belonging to Don Lewis, the millionaire husband of Carole Baskin who disappeared 23 years ago, in a new special exploring the case.
The Daily Mail saw a clip from Discovery’s “Tigers, Lies, and Cover-ups,” set to air Sunday, with Mike Hadsell of Peace River K-9 Search & Rescue and one of his dogs.
The dog barks as the boat circles an area on the lake.
‘There’s something in that lake, there’s something that’s causing the dog to continuously alert on the west side of the lake near Don Lewis’ house,” an investigator says in the clip.
The clip does not say how far from Lewis’s lake house the boat was when the dog alerted.
The narrator of the show says that a diver should check the area.
Lewis vanished in 1997 and was declared dead in 2002, giving Baskin access to his animal sanctuary. In the Netflix series “Tiger King,” Joseph Maldonado-Passage, aka Joe Exotic, accuses Baskin of killing her husband and running him through a meat grinder before feeding him to the big cats at the sanctuary. Baskin, who is currently starring in the new season of “Dancing with the Stars,” has repeatedly denied any knowledge of what happened to Lewis.
Joe Exotic is serving a 22-year prison sentence for a murder for hire plot to kill Baskin.
Meanwhile, Lewis’s family has sued Baskin for defamation for crude comments she made about him and for not defending him against comments made by others, as CrimeOnline previously reported. The family also aired a commercial seeking information about Lewis’s death during “Dancing with the Stars.”
