A California woman is behind bars in connection with the death of her 2-year-old son.
The Mercury News reports that Genesis Barrera-Galdamez, 22, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder. Her son, Jasani Kerry, 2, passed away in Septemberer. Barrera-Galdamez is also facing charges of narcotics posession and child abuse resulting in great bodily injury.
According to a criminal complaint, authorities found Jasani unresponsive inside a home in Brentwood. He died the same day of acute fentanyl toxicity. The drugs made the victim “comatose due to brain injury and to suffer paralysis.”
The complaint also stated that Barrera-Galdamez did “permit said child to be placed in such situation that his/her person and health was/were endangered.”
Barrera-Galdamez is expected in court Wednesday for arraignment. So far, she has not entered a plea.
Meanwhile, Barrera-Galdamez’s sister started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with funeral expenses.
