A Philadelphia boy was shot dead while answering his door, according to police.
Fox News reports that Sadeek Clark-Harrison was shot and killed a little before 3 a.m. Monday morning when someone shot through his family’s glass front door in the Franklin, off of the 5000 block of Ditman Street. Authorities said the suspect is still at large.
“What we know at this time is that there was a knock at the door. No descriptions of any persons at the door, one shot was fired,” Deputy Commissioner Melvin Singleton said. “We do have on the porch of the location one 9mm shell casing and that’s all we know at this particular point in time.”
Sadeek’s mother said she heard an adult male’s voice yelling her son’s name before the shot was fired.
“‘Sadeek! Sadeek!’ So he was coming outside to answer the door because they were calling his name and he didn’t even open the door. He looked at the top of the door and they shot him through his eye,” mother Lisa Clark said.
Neighbors said Sadeek was a good child who recently helped save someone who was having a diabetic episode.
“I started crying. That kid is a good kid. I’ve seen him grown up and I’ve known the family for years,” neighbor Tom Colon told CBS Philly.
As police continue to investigate the incident, they’re asking anyone in the community who may know something to come forward. They’re currently looking through neighborhood security footage.
