A Texas woman is dead and her husband is behind bars, accused of murdering her over the weekend.
The Daily News in Galveston County reports that 21-year-old Megan Ficklen was shot and killed on Saturday at a home off of the 300 block of Seventh Street in San Leon. Sheriff Henry Trochesset said the incident happened at around 7 a.m.
Ficklen was rushed to an area hospital with numerous gunshot wounds, where she subsequently passed away. Investigators said that Anthony Castellanos, 21, is responsible for her death. He was apprehended in Houston following the shooting.
Ficklen’s mother told ABC 13 that the suspect shot her several times in the back.
“I didn’t really like the guy because there was something about him that wasn’t right,” Ficklen’s mother said.
Ficklen was an animal lover with two small sons, according to her mother.
“She was a beautiful girl inside and out. She had a big heart.”
The motive of the shooting remains unclear. Along with murder, Castellanos was charged with a parole board warrant.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been created to help the family with burial expenses and to provide financial support for Ficklen’s children.
