The aunt of a 9-year-old Pennsylvania boy who was found dead in a bathtub Monday has been charged in connection with his death.
Police said they responded to Jamie Lynne Jackson’s home after a relative called police, reporting that the woman was frantically shampooing carpets and cleaning Anson Landon Mitchell Stover’s room, according to WNEP.
Jackson, 36, told officers that she found Stover seriously hurt and unconscious with an unknown substance coming from his mouth. She said she washed and clothed him before putting him in an upstairs bathtub — where he stayed for 24 to 48 hours while she cleaned, slept, and cared for the other children in the home, according to WOLF.
Officers found the fully-clothed boy deceased in the bathtub. Jackson told police that she believed Stover died in the tub because he did not get out, WNEP reported.
An autopsy completed Wednesday confirmed Stover had extensive injuries consistent with repeated child abuse — including injuries to his head, neck, torso, arms, legs, and pelvic area.
The Patriot-News reported that Jackson had legal custody of Stover and his three siblings since 2017. She also has two biological children at the residence. None of the children in the home were older than 12, according to WOLF.
Jackson was charged with homicide, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, concealing the death of a child, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. She remains jailed.
