An Alabama man is facing charges in connection with the death of his girlfriend, found deceased earlier this year.
AL.com reports that Cedric Earl Watts Jr., 36, has been charged with murder. In February, Watts contacted police and said that his girlfriend, 30-year-old Tiffany Osborne, told police she left her Midfield home and went to a store. Watts claimed she never came home and he hadn’t heard from her.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, a lawn cutter made a grisly discovery off of the 4200 block of Turin Drive, near Lakeshore Parkway, in April. According to Bessemer police Lt. Christian Clemons, someone wrapped the body up and hid her under an old mattress in an area where people frequently dump off garbage.
Authorities identified the victim as Osborne. Watts was already in jail on a probation charge when he learned about the new charge against him.
Investigators believe that Watts and Osborne got into a heated fight, leading Watts to fatally shoot her. He then allegedly transported her body in his car to an unfinished, isolated road, where he wrapped her up and hid her under a mattress, police said.
Osborne was the mother of three children, including a 3-month-old baby.
Watts remains behind bars without bail. Check back for updates.
