A Georgia man is behind bars after he allegedly killed his own mother days before Christmas.
AJC reports that 38-year-old Bryan Ray Moodie is accused of brutally murdering his mother, Katrina Kay Garrity, 62, on December 20, inside a Bartow County home. He’s currently being held on felony murder and aggravated assault charges.
Officers arrived at a home off of Greatwood Drive in White at around 7 p.m., after another family member discovered Garrity unresponsive inside the home. Less than 24 hours later, authorities arrested Moodie, although the details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
“Our lives have been changed forever. There is no comprehension of the future there is no site of recovery,” family member Steven Garrity posted on Facebook.
“My family is in a pool of pain and confusion. Please God help my boys thru this as I don’t know where to begin. The pain in my heart is from the look in their eyes.”
Moodie remains behind bars awaiting a pre-trial hearing.
“Additional arrests are not expected at this time,” the sheriff’s office said.
Visitation and memorial services for Garrity is scheduled for January 9 at the Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the victim’s family with expenses.
