An infant girl reported missing last week has been found dead, only days after her at-home birth, according to officials.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice reports that the newborn was found deceased in southern Wisconsin. Authorities are no longer looking for a grey Chevrolet Equinox, that was said to be driven by a third party.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Crime Stoppers said the baby girl was born on January 5 in the Village of Albany and carried away by a man identified as the father. The father told investigators he gave the child to an acquaintance but didn’t tell them the third party’s name, Channel 3000 reported.
So far, police have been unable to identify the person said to have taken the baby.
Due to investigations, no additional information has been released about the case. The DOJ said, however, that the death investigation is still active.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Green County Sheriff’s Department at 608-328-9400.
