Wisconsin authorities have one person in custody in connection with an infant found dead but are asking the public’s assistance for additional information.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Crime Stoppers said a baby girl was born on January 5 in the Village of Albany and carried away by a man identified as the father. The father told investigators he gave the child to an acquaintance but didn’t tell them the third party’s name, Channel 3000 reported.
The infant was reported missing on January 9 and the following day, authorities found the baby deceased. It’s unclear whether the infant was found.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice announced a person of interest has been detained, but so far have not revealed an identity. Security footage photos have been released in hopes that the public can provide additional information about a man seen walking in Albany on January 5.
“Please review the below image(s) of a person walking in Albany on Tuesday, January 5. Anyone who saw this person walking on this date, or has any information about this person, is asked to contact the Green County Sheriff’s Department at 608-328-9400,” the Wisconsin DOJ said in a statement.
The DOJ didn’t say whether the man in the footage is the alleged acquaintance the father spoke about. Authorities are expected to release additional information at some point today.
