Surveillance footage captured on Sunday appears to show someone stealing a motorized wheelchair from an elderly woman’s home in Canada.
The unidentified suspect allegedly took the wheelchair from Diana Kinnear’s garage in Edmonton. The stolen wheelchair is a Pride Jazzy Select 6 — which is worth about $4,000, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Kinnear is reportedly disabled and cannot move far without her wheelchair. She told CTV News Edmonton that her roommate accidentally left open the garage door, giving the suspect the opportunity to steal her wheelchair.
Surveillance cameras caught the suspect fleeing the home in the disabled senior’s wheelchair.
Kinnear reportedly went to close the garage door when she realized her wheelchair was gone. She called the police, who told her they would contact local pawn shops, CTV News reported.
Kinnear said her wheelchair is insured but she may be left to pay a $1,000 deductible to replace it. The news outlet later reported that someone came forward and covered the cost of the deductible.
