One dead, multiple critical in possible ‘mass suicide’ at Long Island residence

One person has died and three other people are in critical condition in what some reports are calling a chemical mass suicide attempt.

According to AM New York, a 72-year-old man is dead, three others are in critical condition, and a 30-year-old man has been taken into custody. Police reportedly responded to a home in Queens Village on Long Island early Thursday morning, following reports of a person behaving erratically.

First responders found four unresponsive victims in the home, including the deceased man, who reportedly had stab wounds. A 70-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were all found unconscious and transported to a hospital in critical condition.

A 30-year-old man, believed to be the subject of the initial report, is in police custody, but it is not yet known if he is facing any charges.

Police reportedly found chemicals at the scene. It is not yet clear what, if any, additional evidence suggests a possible mass suicide attempt.
