YouTube prankster shot and killed by robbery ‘victim’

A YouTube prank went horribly wrong Friday night when one of the people being pranked shot and killed a prankster.

Metro Nashville police said Timothy Wilks, 20, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in the city’s Old Hickory neighborhood just before 9:30 p.m, The Tennessean reported.

Witnesses told investigators that Wilks and a friend were filming a “prank” robbery for a YouTube video and were carrying butcher knives when they approached a group of people in the parking lot.

One of that group, 23-year-old David Starnes, told police that he did not know the incident was a prank and shot Wilks to protect himself and the others in the group.

The Tennessean said that no charges had been filed by Saturday morning and that the investigation was ongoing.
